In 1993 he joined ABB Power Generation Ltd, today Alstom Power, in Switzerland to be head of the Mechanical Integrity Team of Gas Turbine Development which is responsible for strength, dynamics, and failure analysis of the thermal block. After additionally deputizing the Base Development Department of Gas Turbines starting in 1996, he became responsible for the development of the turbines for all large Alstom gas turbine units and associated base technologies in 1997. After 4 years in this field, he took over the technical responsibility for the entire installed fleet of gas turbine fleet GT24 and GT26 in 2001. As this product matured, the responsabiliy for it was moved to Customer Service, and hence, Dr.Florjancic moved along in 2004, to become the Engineering Responsible in this new unit. With the merge of the GT24 /GT26 fleet and the GT13E2 / GT11N2 fleet in 2006, his responsibilities started to encompass the entire Advanced Gas Turbine Fleet in Power Service. This period ended in summer 2010, when Dr.Florjancic moved back into new equipment development at Alstom to work as Director of R&D Execution for gas turbines.
